What's free / one unlock

Free forever covers one Scramp and the whole core loop — feeding, traits, evolution, care — plus notepad, calculator, world clock, basic lofi and dot mode. Not a trial, not a countdown, and not a nagging banner. It simply keeps working.

One purchase, $24.99, once unlocks all app features: up to four Scramps on your desk, up to four together on the group stage, the full toolbox, and all six available families, on up to three computers. Bring your own API key and it stays free forever.

About the three computers

The key is emailed to you when you buy. Entering it on a machine unlocks that machine — the app contacts us once, at that moment, and never again: no check-ins, no expiry, and nothing that can switch off a copy you already unlocked. Reinstalling, upgrading your OS or updating the app does not use up another one.

Changed machines? Manage your computers shows which three are using the key and lets you free one up. You can paste the key, or ask for a short-lived link at the purchase email address. There is no password, sign-up or profile, and the key keeps working even if you never use email recovery. A machine with no internet never has to make that call at all; it will show you a code to bring to that page from any other device.

Three exists so the price can stay one-time and modest instead of becoming a subscription. If you genuinely need more, say so and it will be sorted out.

About the asterisk

Three kinds of optional pack are sold separately. They are genuinely different, and the store marks which is which — a dot on every tile, saying what that kind of pack does — rather than blurring them together:

• Species packs add new families to the compass. A Scramp can lean toward one, settle into it and mutate with it — so these do change what your Scramp can become. They are content, not decoration, and calling them cosmetic would be a lie.
• Stray packs are an animal you adopt — a different kind of creature, not a costume. A Stray moves in as its own creature with its own animations and reactions, so it takes an active slot like any Scramp. It never adapts to what you feed it, never enters the arena and never wears props, and you cannot put one on a Scramp you already have. A Scramp becomes what you feed it; a Stray is simply what it is.
• Prop packs are appearance only, worn by a Scramp you already own. Never a creature of their own, never on a Stray, and they change nothing about how a Scramp behaves or fights. Arena trophies are a separate thing entirely: those are won, never sold.

Packs work on the free tier too, and you can own as many creatures as you like on any tier — every pack you buy is yours to keep, forever, with no limit on how many you collect.

What the one purchase changes is collection access and how many you can have out at once. Free keeps one creature on your desk; every later creation still belongs to you and waits whole and unchanged, but retrieving an inactive creature requires the full unlock. Paid users can scroll the collection, swap any owned creature into a deck of up to four, and put up to four active creatures on the group stage. Nothing you already made is ever deleted for you — putting a creature away keeps every artifact it absorbed, its form and its name.

Neither kind of pack is required. The core loop, every app feature and all six available families are in the one purchase, nothing you already own stops working, and no pack gates something you have already paid for.

What there will never be

No subscription. No password or profile. No per-character DLC — packs are unlocked once for the app, never bought again per creature. No real-money trading. No ads, and no upsell dialogs disguised as features. Nothing about your Scramps, your files or how you use the app ever leaves your machine; a purchase email is used only for receipt, recovery and optional seat management.

That list is a promise, not current pricing. It is written down here so it is checkable later — if any of it ever changes, this page is the evidence that it changed.

And it changed once already, on 2026-07-25. This list used to end “no telemetry” flat. Two things now happen that the old wording ruled out, and pretending otherwise would make this page worthless: the site counts downloads (a number per day, platform, version and country — no IP, no cookie, nothing per-person), and a paid copy makes one network call per computer when you enter your key, so that one purchase can cover three machines instead of unlimited ones. The free tier still makes no network calls at all. Privacy spells out exactly what each one sends.
